TWO men have been arrested after police swooped at properties in Cheshunt and Harlow on Thursday (October 1).
Warrants were executed following an investigation into "myriapod burglaries", where high value vehicles have been stolen across Hertfordshire, Essex and the Met Police area. A myriapod burglary is where mainly high powered motor vehicles are stolen from outside people's homes after keys are stolen from the properties.
Officers from the Eastern Area Tactical Team executed a warrant at a property in Downfield Road, Cheshunt on Thursday morning. Officers searched the property and seized a number of items which were believed to have been stolen, as well as a high value BMW M3 which was seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act (2002). A 21 year old man from Cheshunt was arrested on suspicion of possession of criminal property. A second warrant was executed at a property in Kingsland, Harlow. Officers searched the property and seized ammunition. A 20 year old man from Harlow was also arrested on suspicion of possession of criminal property.
Detective Inspector Gerry McDonald who lead the investigation said: "This is a proactive enquiry and we will continue to follow every strand of evidence to trace suspects involved in burglary. My team are expected to arrest further suspects and bring them to justice."
* Both have been released on police bail, the man from Harlow is due to return on 1 December, and the man from Cheshunt is due to answer bail on 6 November.
