EAST Herts GREASE hopeful Bradley Clarkson is out to prove he's anything but "dead end" after a savage put down by one of the judges on Saturday night.

The former Richard Hale School and Haileybury pupil who sung for survival on the ITV show Grease is the Word, was shocked at the comments from judge Brian Friedman.

The American choreographer told Bradley, 25, that his partner - Sandy wannabe Michelle Antrobus - was West End but he was more dead end.

The pair were first to be voted through to this week's heat and could play Sandy and Danny in this Summer's West End stage production of the musical Grease if they survive the course.

At the exclusive after-show party, Bradley, who lives in Datchworth, said: "The comments were okay and then Brian Freidman's clanger.

"He said I was dead end. I'm not dead end, I'm not West End, but I think I'm on Oxford Street on my way to the West End.

But mum Chrissy, listening in the studio audience to the rendition of Against All Odds, agreed.

"I think Brian said it for a reason. Bradley has got to lift his vocals and be a tad more dynamic."

Bradley's sister Lydia, who is in the running for the title of Miss Hertfordshire, said: "I think the comment was for TV.

"Brad's not the best singer or dancer but he's an all round performer.

"He's wanted to play Danny since the age of six, I was his Sandy."

The theme for this Saturday's show is musical theatre - which Bradley hopes will allow him to shine.

He said: "I'm not a singer, traditionally people who have played Danny such as John Travolta, Shane Richie are actors that have got into to it, so that's hopeful."

To see Bradley next in action tune in to ITV1 on Saturday at 7.30pm.
